Flight Instruction

Guy Lieser Aviation, LLC provides expert flight training to pilots of every experience level. Guy is an Airline Transport rated pilot and veteran flight instructor with more than 34-years experience and 7,000+ flight hours; 2,500+ as a flight instructor. Guy teaches in single-engine, multi-engine, piston and turboprop aircraft.  He holds an FAA ground instructor certificate for basic, instrument, and advanced ratings. He's been a member of the in good standing of the National Association of Flight Instructors (NAFI) since 2004.

 

A Life Well Flown - Guy started flying at the age of 13. He soloed on his 16th birthday and obtained his private pilots license before graduating high school. After college, he served in the United States Air Force. In 1981, Guy started his career as an Air Traffic Control Specialist at Chicago Center in Aurora, Illinois. In 1987, he transferred to the FAA Flight Standards Division where he flew as an Airspace System Inspection Pilot - developing and certifying instrument approach procedures. He later returned to the Air Traffic Division as a Quality Assurance Specialst, Training Specialist, Frontline Manager, and Safety Program Specialist.  In 2011, he and fellow controller Steve McGreevy, received the Archie League Medal for Safety for assisted a pilot in distress who was trapped in severe icing conditions.  Guy and Steve successfully guided the pilot to a safe landing without incident. The event was featured on the Today Show in 2012 prior to both controllers receiving their award in Atlanta, GA. 

 

In 2013, Guy retired with more than 34-years of government service. Today he shares his vast experience and expertise with his students, many of whom, have gone on to successful careers in aviation. His knowledge of the IFR system combined with decades of instructor experience have consistently produced safe, skilled, and competent pilots. Guy also volunteers as a Lead FAA Safety Team Representative for the DPA FSDO and is a frequent guest speaker on a variety of aviation topics.

 

In addition to general flight instruction, Guy is available for Flight Reviews, Instrument Proficiency, and Multi-Engine Proficiency. He's also offers endoresments for High-Performance, Complex Aircraft, Pressurized and Tailwheel aircraft.
